To accompany a BBC Newsnight feature story on 30 March 2017 about the gargantuan task of turning EU law into UK law in line with Britain’s exit from the EU, I was asked to create traditional copperplate calligraphy on parchment paper.
With six different parchments to indicate key areas of change, the challenge was to create a time lapse video sequence requiring one take. In addition, as is required in the fast-paced world of news, we didn’t have time to plan layout, or create guidelines, so this was very much calligraphy without the net.
